Ayreon es un proyecto musical del compositor neerlandés Arjen Lucassen, cuyo estilo radica principalmente en el rock progresivo y el heavy metal, aunque también incluye elementos de la música folk, metal progresivo, metal sinfónico y música electrónica. La mayoría de los álbumes de Ayreon tienen el formato de ópera rock, en los que se desarrolla una historia compleja protagonizada por varios personajes, cada uno de ellos interpretado por un vocalista.
