Carter Benedict Burwell es un compositor estadounidense de música cinematográfica. Algunos de sus trabajos más reconocidos fueron para las películas de los hermanos Coen, con quienes ha colaborado de forma frecuente desde sus comienzos como compositor de bandas sonoras. Su debut como compositor en el cine fue en la película Blood Simple (1984), dirigida por los Coen, quienes desde ese entonces contaron con él durante su carrera posterior, en filmes como Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Fargo (1996) y The Man Who Wasn't There (2001).
