Status Quo es una banda británica de rock fundada en Londres en 1962, por el vocalista y guitarrista Francis Rossi y por el bajista Alan Lancaster. En el segundo semestre de 1967 Rick Parfitt ingresó a la banda como guitarrista rítmico y ocasionalmente cantante, y tras algunos cambios en su alineación y luego de presentarse con diferentes nombres, la banda debutó discográficamente como Status Quo en 1968 con el sencillo «Pictures of Matchstick Men».
