The Monochrome Set es una banda inglesa de post-punk y new wave formada en Londres en enero de 1978 por Ganesh "Bid" Seshadri, Lester Square, John Haney y Jeremy Harrington.A partir de enero de 2026, la formación estuvo compuesta por Bid, Andy Warren, James 'Foz' Foster, Athen Ayren y Dave Morgan. El estilo del grupo se caracteriza por sus letras sardónicas, sus melodías pegadizas o su influencia del pop de los años 1960; y fue comparado con el de grupos coetáneos como Orange JuiceFueron una banda pionera en el post punk y el indie pop y han marcado a bastantes grupos posteriores. En este sentido, Johnny Marr aseguró que sin Monochrome Set no habrían existido los Smiths.
