Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter born in Lagos in 1990. He is one of the pioneers of modern Afrobeats and the most influential African artist of his generation. 'Essence' (with Tems, 2020) was the first African song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 top 10. His album 'Made in Lagos' (2020) positioned Afrobeats as a global genre. He has collaborated with Drake, Beyonce, Chris Brown and Skepta. He won a Grammy for 'Essence' and was the first African artist to fill Madison Square Garden.
